with a quick twist,
a nod of her head,
she finds herself blinking in the darkness.
the silence is pressing,
suffocating,
she waits for her eyes to
adjust.
a futile attempt,
if not a foolish one,
as she tries to conjure up images
of her
friends.
did she really have them
or did they resent
her?
she clasps her hands in a
silent prayer,
hoping that the latter wasn't
true.
